Job Description
The Worship Director role is responsible for the coordination of worship music and audio-visual aspects of worship services through diverse expressions and genres of worship for the goal of leading our congregation and diverse community into greater engagement with and genuine worship of God. They will be intentional about the individual musical and leadership development of worship band members, as well as the development toward excellence of the band as a whole. This person will be able to lead vocally and play an instrument, give pastoral direction to the congregation during musical worship, and craft song setlists that correspond with other thematic elements of the service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible to prepare, lead, and direct others in leading worship on Sunday mornings and for special services, utilizing a team of volunteers
  • Oversee song selection for Sunday mornings and special services and ensure connection of songs to message, and a wide range of diverse worship expressions, including songs in Spanish and possibly other languages
  • Oversee the scheduling of worship teams (worship leader, vocalists, instrumentalists, sound and media technicians) in Planning Center Online
  • Lead regular worship practices beginning with a once-a-month frequency.
  • Ensure that necessary resources are provided to the team (setlists, charts, slides, etc.)
  • Oversee the coordination of the Sunday morning run-through
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff in planning and execution of worship services
  • Mentor and develop worship leaders and other team members
  • Oversee the technical/audio-visual aspects of the worship services
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend one-on-one meetings with direct supervisor
  • Be fully engaged in the life of the church

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong preference for, and/or experience working in, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse settings
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus
  • Must be a committed Christian who is pursuing spiritual growth & committed to the regular practice of sabbath

  • Able to lead musical worship using either keyboard or guitar
  • Able to lead in a vocal range that is comfortable for a church audience
  • Able to read music and charts
  • At least one year of experience in leading worship in a church or similar setting
  • Experience raising up and developing volunteers
  • A servant leader with a pastoral heart
  • Theological alignment with the Free Methodist “Freedoms”, “The Free Methodist Way”, and willingness to learn more about Free Methodist Wesleyan Theology.
